Flarebox is an unusal CMS system, unlike others where there may be a yearly or 18 month update to the system, as Flarebox is a modular system it is continually being updated with new modules / tweaks to current modules. On this page we outline a few of the areas in development.
RSS is a technology by which you can subscribe to a 'feed' of information - traditionally a news feed it could be a blog or any other information published at regular intervals. The new modules in the RSS family allow you to subscribe to external feeds to 'suck' information into your website, and publish your own feeds to allow others to subscribe to you.
Module Update
The menu module was the first code we wrote for Flarebox back in 2007. As technologies on the internet have developed considerably since then we have decided to update this module. The menu module underpins the entire Flarebox system as it manages the structure of the site. It has always been very powerful, if at times a little complex. Our development philosophy is to make the system as intuitive as possible, so we are re-developing the module to make it more intuuitive - more graphical - easier to use.
Under development: a set of modules to manage links on your website. Links are one method of building awareness of your website, joining with others in sharing your topic or interest.
The family of links modules includes the ability to set up categories of links, add / edit links, find links on the internet, auto-validate links in your site (checking whether they are still live etc.) preview linked sites from within the admin system, analyse where your visitors go.
Flarebox currently comes with SEO modules built in to allow you to maximise the SEO friendliness of your website. However, we feel that SEO is a very important part of any organisation's use of the internet, so we are pushing the boundaries a little bit further. We are developing auto-seo technologies. Linking visitor tracking with SEO we are able to consider the search words used by a visitor on coming to the website, we can then tie that into the SEO and suggest to the site owner ways of tweaking the SEO to improve the website.
eCommerce is a large part of the internet world today. Flarebox has had an eCommerce Light option for a while now allowing site owners to offer items for sale simply by listing them on a page and linking that to a cart and allowing payment through PayPal or another gateway for handling the money.
We also have customers who own Flarebox with an eCommerce package alongside and integrated. However in installing and integrating these for our customers, one point is repeatedly aired - why can't the eComerce be as intuitive and easy to use as Flarebox? So, we though we should sort this out and write our own eCommerce system to go with Flarebox, using the same modular and simple approach but handling stock at a far more complex level of detail, powerful websites, simply.
